I decided last week to start a toddler poncho for my friend's 2-yr old daughter who's 2nd b-day party was today (sat). i decided on 2 skeins of provence and 1 skein of squiggle for the edging. So i was using the 2 rectangle pattern to create this poncho. and I mis-calculated it when i bound off on both rectangles. I had cast on 56 stitches on size 10.5 needles. i knitted for 17.75" and bound off. I didn't think it would end up being like ...square. it wasn't a perfect square...but more sq. than rectangle. and i didn't realize this until i was trying to piece it all together. i realize now i should have cast on less stitches and knitted for 17.75". so my solution at that point was to just fold the two rectangles together...making a 9" x 17.75" rectangle and put it together that way. It was going to work. but then...i was told by peeps at Simpatico to NOT do that. someone told me to just add on 4" to each rectangle and do it right. i agreed. but the poncho came out sooo big. I kept telling everyone the girl was very very petite for a 2-yr old. she is TINY. very cute. i mean..i dont regret adding the 4". but i think it would have been a cuter poncho if i just stuck w/ my original plan to correct what i did wrong. so when she opened the gift...her mama immediately put it on her so i could take pictures. my god..the poncho practically hits the floor.

cute right? so i was all 'turn around, Katie! i wanna take a pic of you!" and her mom and others were all 'say hi to Jennifer! SAY HI!" and when you tell her to say hi...she feels the need to wave at you. it's very cute. but she didn't understand the poncho. so she got her arm sticking out of the neck hole and she began waving hello at me. it was so adorable.

see in this picture you can see how huge the poncho is on her. i kept saying 'she can grow into it" which is true. but she's so tiny..im' scared she will be like 7 when she can finally wear it. hahaha that was my priority during the week. i'm going to finish my felted clutch bag this weekend. i want it ready by next weekend for a wedding i'm going to. i just need to knit another 5 inches...felt it...and i'm done. i'm going to work on the baby stuff during the week and while i'm home for that wedding. Bot-Gurl complained that i am not posting enoguh photos. I am huge fun of ponchos and was very surpeised when I discovered Ring Say NO To Poncho! Damn!

And i realized..i'm not as fast as I think i am. I wanted to make something other than that Sweetpea baby set for my friend...so i started a pair of Interweave Baby socks. I'vehad some trouble starting them...don't know why. i hate working with size 0 needles I think. I also realized my friend's daughter's bday is next weekend. And she is such a little cutie pie. i decided to make her a poncho. at first iw as going to do it out of Cascade 220...but in the summer here in freaking Texas? NOO...too hot. so i switched to Provence. so i started it. i must knit fast and furious this week. hehehe. I still need to finish my branching out scarf, my clapotis, sigh....and i want to start my Einstein jacket so i can have it ready for winter. sigh....|W|P|111604226214092768|W|P|New projects. I dig the cartoon on this template. And i do like this shade of red. :-) i hope you all like it. Sooo...my friend i was making the Sweetpea Baby set for .... I started it on Weds. well, my friend had the baby 3 weeks early. She had the baby on saturday. hahahaha. so i'm trying to hurry to make it...butttt...it's not crucial i finish ASAP. i can breathe a bit easier. hehee. her shower isn't for another 3 weeks...so i gots some time. :) Still working on my Branching out Scarf. I'm getting along. A friend of mine is having a baby soon...due May 23. i reazlied how soon that is and i started working on the Sweetpea Baby set...using Pakucho yarns. I just started...and so far I'm loving knitting w/ the yarn. it's so soft and lovely.

I'm still working on my Branching out scarf. I'll post up pics as soon as I take some. Right now it just looks like a holey scarf made of limey green Silky wool. :) Still working on my Clapotis. I'm putting that sort of on semi-hold...b/c the other things will be faster and easier to finish. well, w/ the baby stuff..i just need to finish. I want to make the baby a pair of socks too. i need to hurry. too bad my friend does'nt know what she is having yet. so i have to do everthing in yellow/green/beige. hheeheh.
